Which carrier would support the French fleet?

Which British carrier would replace the air support normally associated with Force H?

Furious is the most plausible carrier to support the French, leaving Ark Royal and Eagle with higher-priority British formations.

The French force needs carrier air defence, but Britain has already lost Courageous and Glorious and cannot allocate flight decks casually. Ark Royal is judged too valuable to transfer, while Eagle is a worked-up and reliable part of the Mediterranean Fleet. Furious is the likelier limited air-defence contribution because she improves on Béarn without removing Britain's best carrier from a principal formation. Ark Royal could then reinforce the main Mediterranean carrier force and help create a much stronger strike at Taranto.
