The Weapon class as a postwar air-defence picket

The Weapons could serve as radar pickets after the war, but their position between large fleet destroyers and the C class was harder to justify.

Notes

Several Weapons went into postwar air-defence service. Their radar and gun power made them useful as pickets for a task group, though their service was relatively short. The Battle and Daring classes could take on some cruiser duties, while the C class supplied numbers. An intermediate type made more sense for the expected attrition of operations around Japan than it did in a smaller peacetime force.
