A late photograph and incremental shipyard work

A late photograph and a worker's account show how small increments could advance a battleship, while Soviet yards ran out of time.

Notes

A late photograph of Sovetsky Soyuz shows bomb damage and how little of the ship had been completed. An account of Second World War battleship construction describes workers continuing small jobs after they were ordered to stop, using spare moments to move the design forward. Incremental work matters only when enough time remains for it to accumulate. Soviet yards had less time and, in this interpretation, less commitment to keep the programme moving.
