Allied navies learned logistics from one another

Royal Navy adoption of American replenishment practice was normal wartime adaptation, not proof that Britain began with no logistics experience.

Notes

The Royal Fleet Auxiliary learned from the United States Navy during the war. By 1944, however, American practice had also advanced far beyond its 1941 form, so the comparison must account for shared wartime experience. HMS Victorious, which operated with the US Navy under the call sign “Robin,” shows that learning moved in the other direction as well. Allies copied effective methods because refusing to learn would cost ships and lives.
