New guns, fire control, and command spaces complete the rebuild

Warspite's reconstruction raised main-gun elevation, modernized surface and anti-aircraft control, added aircraft facilities, and enclosed the bridge for fleet command.

Notes

The rebuild removed Warspite's remaining torpedo tubes, altered the six-inch battery, and added high-angle four-inch guns, pom-poms, and machine guns for air defence. Raising the 15-inch guns to 30 degrees increased their maximum range by about 9,000 yards, to roughly 32,300 yards. A High Angle Control System and Admiralty Fire Control Table Mark VII improved the direction of anti-aircraft and surface fire. Cranes and a hangar allowed the ship to carry up to four aircraft, although she normally operated two Swordfish floatplanes and later Walrus amphibians. Replacing the tripod mast with an armoured command structure also gave the long-serving flagship protected space for an admiral and staff.
