Visitor facilities explain apparently excessive ship toilets

A personal account of a ministerial design discussion explains why visiting guests need facilities close to a reception area.

Notes

Alex Clarke recounts a discussion about an unnamed future ship program in which toilet numbers had reached ministerial attention. Several toilets were concentrated near the mess-deck reception area so guests would not need to wander through the ship. That arrangement served access control as well as hospitality. Facilities elsewhere were still needed for the ship's own personnel and activities. The example explains a practical layout choice while preserving the limits of an unnamed, personally recalled program.
