Is removing missile containers from VLS hazardous?

Spent containers are comparatively simple; loaded missile canisters demand careful, calm pier-side handling.

Spent VLS containers are relatively straightforward to remove. Canisters still holding missiles require more careful handling at a pier on a calm day. Soviet and Russian systems add guide rails and crane requirements to the task. The hazard therefore depends heavily on whether the container is empty and on the launcher arrangement.
