The Venator as a fighter-first carrier-battleship hybrid

The Venator improves on later Imperial capital ships by integrating a large air group with substantial direct-fire capability. Its crew of about 7,400 is smaller than the Imperial Star Destroyer's officer corps alone, and its fifty-two point-defense weapons give it a more credible local defense. Fighters remain its primary attack tool, with heavy guns following after the air group has softened the target. A heavily armed carrier is still classified by its aircraft when they remain the design's first and principal striking system.
