Texas earns affection as a ship that repeatedly kept going rather than through any claim of technical supremacy. Her reputation includes a readiness to remain with the line even at the cost of machinery strain. A battleship's historical value can lie in sustained service and resilience as much as in a paper comparison of guns and armour.
