An early-1930s USS Constitution battlecruiser

A 1932 game-design brief combines the Constitution name with a 30,000-33,000-ton limit and a fast capital-ship role.

Notes

The final Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts challenge calls for a US Navy battlecruiser of 30,000-33,000 tons, with 1932 chosen as the design year. Its performance must justify the name Constitution. The available game hulls constrain the project: a large-cruiser hull is needed to reach the requested displacement, and it limits the main battery to 15-inch guns. A 14-inch battery offers room for the desired speed within that size. The designers also invoke the run-up to the Second London Naval Treaty when explaining their caliber choice.
