A US Navy squadron to hunt von Spee

Which US Navy ships should hunt Admiral von Spee's East Asia Squadron if the United States wants Germany out of the Americas?

The force would use New York, Texas, Wyoming, and Arkansas with as many cruisers and destroyers as possible, using the newest American battleships to overmatch von Spee.

The proposed force uses the New York- and Wyoming-class battleships rather than extending the force to every available older dreadnought. Their roughly twenty- to twenty-one-knot speed is enough to create operational difficulty for von Spee, while none of the German ships can fight them on equal terms. Cruisers and destroyers would provide scouting and screening around a force whose decisive strength remains its four newest battleships.
