What a one-on-one simulation can and cannot show

A solo-game scenario separates a design comparison from wider doctrine and task-force employment while showing the limits of an imperfect digital reconstruction.

Notes

The closing Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts scenario pits a single Alsace-style vessel against a lone German battleship. The constructor cannot reproduce the French proposal exactly: the model mixes 15- and 16-inch guns, uses game-driven secondary placement, and runs at 26 rather than the nominal 32 knots to keep the ship stable for long-range fire. A one-on-one encounter can compare design characteristics, while doctrine or task-force capability requires a broader scenario. Quadruple mountings may also fire slightly more slowly per gun than twins, even when the French arrangement behaves internally like two paired mountings. The controlled scenario isolates a few design questions, but its result cannot stand in for exact historical performance.
