Small uncrewed escorts could add Sea Ceptor missiles, close-in weapon systems, or 57 mm and 40 mm guns around a larger warship. A separate proposed role is to move forward and deliberately enlarge their radar signatures so they resemble more valuable targets. Thermal blooming could similarly make a decoy appear hotter. The purpose is to draw attacks away from the task group. Such craft could still be expensive, but their possible loss is weighed against damage to the ships they protect.

Uncrewed escorts can carry weapons or amplify decoy signatures
The proposed escorts add close-defence weapons and could generate large radar or thermal signatures to draw attacks away from the force.
