A future convoy could use a crewed Type 26 as its command ship, with a secondary command facility aboard a merchant vessel. Numerous uncrewed escorts would provide protection, while engineers could fly out to deal with faults. Refuelling and rearming would require their own support arrangements. One proposed solution is a mothership with a dock large enough to receive escorts and reload their vertical launch systems. StanFlex-style weapon modules could be exchanged inside the dock, allowing an escort to return to duty while its removed equipment was maintained aboard the support ship. The dock and maintenance facilities would therefore support the convoy's continuing protection.

Uncrewed convoy escorts still need repair and reloading
A proposed convoy system pairs a Type 26 command ship with uncrewed escorts and a support ship for repairs, reloading, and weapon-module changes.
