Rearming and repair may make carriers more important

Uncrewed aircraft can refuel in flight but still need a secure mobile base for weapons, spares, technicians, and faults that no onboard crew can work around.

Notes

Uncrewed aviation may increase the carrier's value. Aircraft can be refueled in flight, but they cannot be rearmed there. A carrier supplies magazines, spares, technicians, repair spaces, and a secure place to recover sophisticated systems. Dependence on those facilities may grow as aircraft become more autonomous because no onboard human remains to improvise around a fault. The carrier therefore persists as the mobile maintenance and weapons base behind the uncrewed force.
