Designing the Glasgow-class light cruiser within a tight weight margin

The Glasgow-class redesign weighs shell range, gun caliber, armor, and a few remaining tons rather than treating a cruiser as a simplified capital ship.

Notes

The Glasgow design starts from a modified Chester hull and tests whether propulsion changes offer any improvement. The modern light-cruiser hull is already broadly satisfactory, so the work turns on small gains around a margin of only a few dozen tons. Standard shells give the six-inch guns greater range than super-heavy shells in this game configuration, making them the preferred choice and releasing additional weight. The remaining margin goes into the main belt, showing how a small displacement allowance can affect a light cruiser's practical survivability.
