Testing a 1914 Japanese ten-gun battleship

A 25,000-ton, 24-knot Japanese battleship reveals how difficult it is to fit ten 14-inch guns, machinery, armor, and secondary weapons into a 1914 hull.

Notes

The Japanese design brief calls for ten 14-inch guns, 24 knots, and roughly 25,000 tons. UAD's available hull and machinery push the design thousands of tons overweight before its secondary battery and protection are settled. Reducing anti-flood and anti-torpedo features recovers weight, while numerous bulkheads and some reinforcement remain preferred. The protection aim is compared with Tiger rather than Invincible. Further armor reductions eventually leave room for the main battery and substantial secondaries. These are results within the game's hulls and statistics, so difficulty reproducing the request does not by itself establish that the historical specification was impossible.
