Why Pacific distances favoured larger submarines

The U class lacked Far Eastern endurance, and removing treaty tonnage limits is expected to strengthen the Royal Navy's preference for larger Pacific boats.

Notes

U-class boats lacked the endurance needed for deployment to the Far East. Larger submarines made better sense for Pacific operations. Without the London treaty tonnage restrictions, the expectation is that the Royal Navy would have put even more emphasis on those larger boats.
