The 2,000-ton design finds a workable weapon balance

A larger hull can support geared-turbine speed, a limited torpedo battery, gun ammunition, light weapons, and modest protection.

Notes

The third design keeps a single five-torpedo launcher so the ship can threaten an opponent without becoming a torpedo specialist. That battery is enough to deter or attack a larger ship without inviting the gun destroyer to use torpedoes as its primary weapon. The remaining choices cover light-gun placement, extra gun ammunition, torpedo size, modest armour, pitch, and roll while protecting firing arcs and launcher clearance. Additional displacement buys flexibility, but the requested 2,250- and 2,500-ton standard designs would need hulls larger than the game permits in this setup.
