The builder list ranges from major firms such as Swan Hunter to numerous smaller yards. Ships ordered in January 1915 were already launching from April onward and entering service quickly. Steady peacetime naval orders had preserved the skilled workers and facilities that could expand production in war. Germany could not readily match Britain's delivery of 24 sloops in less than nine months while its yards were also building many other vessels.
