Triple turrets against the Iron Duke weight benchmark

A 13.5-inch triple-turret concept exceeds Iron Duke's historical displacement once armor, secondary weapons, torpedoes, and ammunition return to the design.

Notes

A 13.5-inch triple-turret test design with contemporary turbines, oil firing, shafts, hydraulics, and armor reaches nearly 32,000 tons. The Iron Duke class displaced about 25,000 tons standard and 29,500 tons fully loaded, so the concept already exceeds the historical weight scale. Reducing protection and rearranging the hull creates severe forward weight, while adding secondary guns, three-inch weapons, torpedo tubes, and ammunition consumes the remaining margin. The historical benchmark reveals why a main-battery scheme that appears feasible in isolation may fail after the rest of the warship is restored.
