Why triple turrets do not fit an accelerated Dreadnought

An earlier Dreadnought could use larger twin guns, but a triple turret would add development time that defeats the accelerated programme.

Question

Could an earlier Dreadnought replace its wing twins with triple turrets?

Short answer

Not on the same accelerated schedule; twin 14-inch mountings were more plausible than an undeveloped triple turret.

Notes

A weapon available through an existing design path differs from a turret arrangement that still needs development. A twin 14-inch mounting is plausible if Britain begins the ship earlier and follows a normal procurement schedule. A triple 12-inch or 14-inch turret is not yet ready to drop into the same construction timeline. Choosing it would delay the ship that the counterfactual is trying to accelerate. Paper firepower must therefore be tested against industrial readiness and schedule risk.
