Chapter · 17:29-19:25

The vulnerability cost of fewer, larger turrets

Three triple turrets simplify a layout but make each hit more damaging, because one disabled mounting removes a third of the ship's main-battery firepower.

Notes

The video's strongest objection to the triple-turret scheme is combat resilience. Losing one turret in a five-twin arrangement removes 20 percent of the main battery and leaves the eight-gun broadside of an earlier dreadnought. Losing one of three triples removes roughly 33 percent and leaves only six guns. A later Queen Elizabeth-era design might adopt four triples, but the three-mount arrangement still concentrates a large share of the ship's fighting power in each vulnerable position.
