The modern Town class consists of Type 26 anti-submarine frigates. Their ASW role gives them a different mission set from the Town-class cruisers of either world war. Comparing their capabilities directly without accounting for those roles produces a false comparison, even though all share the Town name.

Why ships with the same class name can demand different comparisons
The Town name spans two generations of cruisers and Type 26 anti-submarine frigates whose different missions must shape any capability comparison.
