Why TOG II looks like a land monitor

TOG II is compared with a Roberts-class monitor, linking the tank's immense form to the naval architect who designed it.

Notes

After examining an image, the comparison with a miniature Queen Elizabeth-class battleship is rejected in favour of a Roberts-class monitor taken onto land. A later comment notes that Sir Eustace Tennyson d'Eyncourt designed both capital ships and the tank. Giving a battleship designer a tank commission helps explain the vehicle's size. The comparison connects TOG II's huge form to naval architecture without pretending that it was literally a warship.
