Tiger's official speed was 28 knots, while her fully laden trials reached about 29.5 knots. Her machinery used 39 coal-and-oil-fired boilers at 235 psi in five rooms, four with eight boilers and one with seven. Full oil firing could plausibly have brought her to about 30 knots. Her metacentric height at deep load was about 6 feet, or 1.9 metres, which is presented as a reason for her stability. These are useful starting points for the refit proposal, with the higher speed remaining an estimate.
