Pink Lists as dated snapshots of naval readiness

Pink Lists record ships' locations and condition on a specific date. Their precision depends on the reporting and communications available at the time. Assessing them requires those limits to be stated in context. A separate archival source recording the same location or condition provides corroboration. Modern systems require scrutiny too: GPS can be spoofed, so the capacity for greater accuracy does not guarantee an accurate record.
