The uncertain claim of a Tiger sister named Leopard

Singular Super Lion wording supports a tentative Tiger connection, while the claimed Leopard sister remains uncorroborated.

Notes

Singular references to a Super Lion fit the one-off Tiger more naturally in this interpretation. Alex Clarke has found no archival trace of a second Tiger named Leopard, despite a German historian's claim that one was intended. That finding establishes the limit of his search. HMS Leopard was already a C-class destroyer name in use from 1897 to 1919, although renaming the destroyer would have been possible. A successor carrying the 15-inch guns already under development would have constituted a different class. Jaguar was an available alternative, later used for the J-class destroyer HMS Jaguar, F34, in 1938. A badge already existing during preparations in 1937 prompts speculation about earlier work on that name. Its connection to a previous design remains unknown.
