Without American use of the Philippines, the notional British route runs from Singapore through Hong Kong or Taiwan toward Weihaiwei. The Taiwan option is deliberately limited: naval forces attack and isolate selected points, then land armour and infantry to secure useful sections. The proposal does not require a campaign to occupy the entire island. Forward bases could be acquired as stepping stones for blockade while the land commitment remained subordinate to maritime strategy.

Taiwan as a limited Allied advance base
The British concept uses selected coastal positions and naval isolation rather than attempting to conquer all of Taiwan.
