Survivability equipment in a 30-knot capital ship

The final design adds armour, rangefinding, sonar, and training choices to make a fast capital ship more resilient as well as more heavily armed.

Notes

The design discussion extends beyond gun size and belt thickness. It considers deck and inner-belt protection, the best available rangefinder, cadet training, and sonar intended to improve torpedo warning and submarine avoidance. Pitch and roll also matter because a heavily armed ship still needs an acceptable operating platform. At 30 knots, the ship is firmly in battlecruiser-speed territory, with enough protection and sensors to survive the missions assigned to it. The projected 50-month build time makes the finished package a long-term industrial commitment rather than an immediate tactical answer.
