The excluded 14-inch-monitor branch

Accepting Gorgon might have opened a wider surplus-ship purchase, including Abercrombie-class monitors with 14-inch guns, but the video deliberately excludes them.

Notes

The counterfactual briefly widens to consider what Britain might have offered alongside Gorgon. Several First World War monitors remained available during the 1920s and 1930s, including Abercrombie-class ships armed with paired 14-inch guns. A Norwegian purchase could theoretically have paired each coastal-defence ship with a heavy-gun monitor, creating a much harder coastal-defense problem for an invader. That additional fleet is excluded from the main scenario, which stays focused on the single ship Nidaros so that the divergence remains bounded.
