The strike cruiser offered space for Aegis, helicopters, and VLS

The unbuilt strike cruiser paired a Ticonderoga-like Aegis superstructure with a deeper nuclear hull, two-ended weapons, and a hangar.

Notes

The strike-cruiser concept appears as a better-proportioned home for the large Aegis installation than the compact Ticonderoga hull. Its nuclear hull would have supported a double-ended weapons arrangement while still providing a helicopter hangar. The deep hull probably could have accepted vertical launching systems with relative ease. The design remained hypothetical because cost and the disappearance of the expected peer-war requirement ended the program.
