The Danish StanFlex alternative to fitted-for-but-not-with

StanFlex separates a ship's module positions from the weapons bought for them, making reconfiguration easier but usually accepting fewer weapons in a given space than a specialized fit.

Notes

The Danish module approach differs from a ship merely built with spare space for future systems. StanFlex uses a separately procured navy-wide pool of modules that can be fitted to prepared positions, creating a flexible force-level inventory. Buying the modules separately from each hull also separates weapon procurement from the shipbuilding budget. Its trade-off is density: a purpose-built hull can normally carry more weapons in the same volume.
