Standardized small destroyers create flotilla mass

Construction across several French yards brought the force to fifty-five destroyers, providing the numbers needed for screening and flotilla warfare.

Notes

Thirteen Claymore and ten Branlebas destroyers were built across several French yards with a useful degree of standardization despite some variation. Together with the earlier classes, they raised the force to fifty-five destroyers. That total mattered operationally because fleet screening and torpedo attacks required enough hulls to cover fleets and continued operations. Distributed yards delivered numerical mass, even though each design remained small beside foreign counterparts.
