Question

Would an ultralight Royal Marine role duplicate work already done by the Special Boat Service?

Short answer

The SBS is identified as one part of the wider structure, but the proposed division of roles is not worked out.

Notes

The SBS question leads to a comparison of Britain's several special-forces organizations. The Special Air Service, Special Boat Service, and Special Reconnaissance Regiment are named. A fourth supporting organization is recalled with audience help and described as combining Parachute Regiment and Royal Marine personnel to provide heavier support in the field. The division of tasks between a proposed ultralight Royal Marine force and the SBS remains unresolved.
