Hydrophones were fitted from the beginning. The gun outfit comprised four 130 mm (5.1-inch) guns, two 76.2 mm guns, two 45 mm guns and two single 12.7 mm anti-aircraft machine guns. Two triple 21-inch torpedo launchers supplied the torpedo battery. Capacity for 60-95 mines and 25 depth charges added further duties. This combination made the destroyers well armed and flexible.
