The experimental destroyer combined German-inspired equipment and some German machinery with advanced Soviet systems. Some of the Soviet equipment came from industries outside the maritime industrial base. Italian elements included a Galileo fire-control system and a duplex director. Integrating these components required equipment from different sources to work together. Their individual merits did not establish that the combined installation would function effectively.
