Snowberry's construction, transfer, and forecastle refit

Snowberry moved from rapid construction and British service to Canadian convoy work, with a 1943 refit changing her visible configuration.

Notes

Snowberry was ordered in January 1940, laid down in February, launched in August, and commissioned into the Royal Navy in November. Initial British service included convoy trips before her transfer to the Royal Canadian Navy in May 1941. She remained in Canadian service until June 1945. Her forecastle was extended in May 1943 as part of a wider set of modifications. The photograph discussed shows the ship after that alteration, so it depicts a later configuration than the one in which she entered service.
