A Spanish light CATOBAR carrier could reshape export fleets

A successful Spanish light CATOBAR design could replace aging British light carriers abroad and exert political pressure on Britain to restore conventional carrier aviation.

Notes

The proposed carrier's two lifts and limited catapult arrangement would constrain simultaneous launch and recovery. Even so, it could offer a purpose-built successor for navies retiring British light fleet carriers. Australia and India are identified as plausible customers if Spain executed the design well and at the right moment. Visible foreign adoption might also push British governments to revisit carrier policy for reasons of status as well as military utility.
