Twin six-inch turrets comparable to contemporary cruiser fittings would let the capital ship share an established cruiser mounting. The proposal adapts the high-elevation principle of the County-class eight-inch turret to the smaller weapon. A six-inch gun able to reach 70 degrees could become a capable dual-purpose battery if development began in the 1920s. It would give the ship an anti-aircraft and surface-fighting secondary battery. This counterfactual route might reduce the later need for the Dido-class solution.

A 1920s six-inch dual-purpose secondary battery
Twin six-inch mounts become a design argument for investing early in a high-angle secondary battery rather than accepting later compromises.
