Singapore's coastal guns still face an ammunition limit

The counterfactual cannot simply turn Singapore's heavy coastal batteries into ideal land-defence weapons because high-explosive ammunition remains scarce.

Notes

Singapore's large coastal guns have far more armour-piercing ammunition than high explosive, a material constraint the counterfactual keeps in place. A politically stronger supreme commander might obtain additional high-explosive rounds, but the plan cannot assume that request succeeds. The batteries would therefore remain best suited to punishing ships approaching an amphibious assault rather than providing unlimited fire against troops ashore. A fortress weapon's usefulness depends on ammunition type as much as on calibre or emplacement.
