The Singapore station already has four battlecruisers and two light cruisers when forces are reviewed for redeployment. That concentration gives a distant base its own heavy striking force, with lighter ships available for scouting and screening. Ships based there can respond locally or reinforce another theatre without first making the voyage from home waters. Forward basing changes where a fleet's usable reserves are available.
