Ship growth leaves sixty-gun vessels marginal

Hogland's order of battle becomes a snapshot of the armament growth that pushed two-deckers toward ninety guns by 1815.

Notes

A sixty-gun ship was already becoming marginal as a third rate by 1788. By the end of the Napoleonic Wars, two-deckers could carry around ninety guns and first-rate three-deckers 120 to 130. Russia's 100-gun first rate and numerous 74s therefore represented more than a small numerical edge over Sweden's 60- and 70-gun ships. Equal ship counts could conceal a major difference in broadside weight.
