Different kinds of development behind the ten shed inventions

The recap distinguishes uncertain workshop origins, independent reinvention, a component breakthrough and a mass-producible form of an existing idea.

Notes

The candidates qualify in different ways as shed inventions. The Motor War Car and the later armored car count separately because they arose from independent development. A shed origin for the jam-tin grenade remains uncertain, while the Stokes mortar's workshop origin is treated as almost certain. For depth charges, the claim concerns development of the hydrostatic pistol. The Bombe represents work in an institution's sheds. PPI had several contributors, with TRE credited here for the first mass-producible version in the wartime context.
