Seydlitz survives Jutland with negative freeboard

After earlier North Sea and Baltic operations, Seydlitz barely survived Jutland in a condition that tested the boundary between afloat and sunk.

Notes

Seydlitz returned to the North Sea after operations in the Gulf of Riga and joined the 1916 bombardment of Yarmouth and Lowestoft. At Jutland she absorbed such extensive damage that much of the hull lay below the waterline and any additional hit might have finished her. Her return demonstrated remarkable construction and good fortune rather than proof that she was invulnerable. The enormous repair burden may also have limited confidence in exposing her to further heavy action, and she never again met the enemy in battle.
