From World War II carrier defence to the late-1950s fleet

The opening recap places the jet-age conclusion in a sequence from John S. Thach's World War II carrier defence through Korean War aircraft and the Royal Navy's Suez-era carrier force.

Notes

The opening recap traces the path established in the preceding three parts. The World War II baseline included Caspar John, John S. Thach's Big Blue Blanket, and the Thach Weave. The Korean War discussion then followed the Supermarine Seafire FR.47, Fairey Firefly, Hawker Sea Fury, Douglas AD-4 Skyraider, and Colossus-class carriers into the late 1940s and early 1950s. The third part moved through the Suez Crisis, the Centaur and Audacious carrier classes, and the Royal Navy's mid-to-late-1950s capabilities. This roadmap makes the conclusion's chronology explicit: early jets altered a carrier system already evolving through wartime doctrine, postwar aircraft, and changing fleet design.
