Seaslug, radar, and the Falklands counterfactual

A Seaslug conversion was considered, but retaining the guns may have reflected an implicit judgement that they were more useful; a separate counterfactual asks what Daring radar could have offered in 1982.

Notes

A proposed Seaslug conversion would have replaced one torpedo installation. The decision not to proceed may imply that the existing guns were judged more useful, although that reading is explicitly an interpretation of the paperwork. A separate Falklands counterfactual asks whether Daring radars developed with Channel and Norwegian experience in mind might have worked effectively in constrained coastal waters. The ships would have been old by 1982, but their gunfire, sensors, and subdivision could still have been useful around places such as San Carlos Water.
