Keeping Scandinavian supply chains in service

Established Scandinavian material flows reduce the delays involved in adapting British factories to unfamiliar sources and ore qualities.

Notes

Continued access to Scandinavian ore preserves supply chains that already served British industry before the war. Production can absorb changes in shipping schedules more readily than a switch to unfamiliar material sources. Different ore qualities may require mills to alter handling, filtering, and other processes, creating delays even when replacement tonnage exists. Keeping the established sources in use therefore supports steadier wartime production as well as a larger supply of raw material.
