Would Resistance have formed a separate Revenge subclass?

Would the proposed Resistance ships form a slower Revenge subclass used for convoy duties?

They were still Revenges and would perform the same duties. A substantially different alternative would be three Renown-style battlecruisers.

Resistance, Renown, and Repulse were planned as three further Revenges. Minor differences did not make them a separate Resistance subclass. If completed on that basis, they would perform the same duties as the other R-class battleships. A different construction decision could instead produce three battlecruisers along the lines of Renown and Repulse.
