Romania combines foreign shipyards with assembly at Galați

Repeated foreign orders and the assembly of Austrian-built sections at Galați gave Romania several ways to expand its river flotilla.

Notes

Romania expanded its flotilla through repeated foreign orders. Thames Iron Works supplied Rahova-class gunboats and later orders of small warships, with Romanian demand helping to sustain the British yard for several years. Schichau also supplied vessels from Germany. A British-built torpedo gunboat carried a 47 mm gun and four torpedoes: two spar weapons and two dropped Whitehead torpedoes. Brătianu-class vessels were built in sections in Austria and sent to Galați in Romania for assembly. Procurement therefore involved both completed vessels from foreign yards and sectional construction for assembly at home.
